Chairmen of 31 local government areas in Kano State have expressed support for calls urging the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The endorsement followed a series of stakeholders’ meetings held across the state’s local government areas between Sunday and Monday, during which chairmen shared their perspectives on the political future of the NNPP in Kano.

While 31 local government chairmen backed a defection to the APC, officials from Kura and Tsanyawa LGs declared their intention to remain in the NNPP, reaffirming loyalty to Kwankwaso and the party’s principles.

As of the time of reporting, 11 local government areas had not publicly stated their positions. With Kano comprising 44 local government areas in total, attention remains on the remaining chairmen as the political developments continue to generate significant public interest across the state.
