The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement, ICE, has announced plans to deport Ibrahim Tunde Ijaoba, a Nigerian national convicted of armed robbery and offences linked to the sale of illicit drugs.

In a statement released on Monday, ICE disclosed that Ijaoba was a former member of the Bloods, a notorious street gang associated with violent criminal activities. The agency said he entered the United States illegally and later accumulated multiple convictions, including aggravated assault on a police officer with a firearm, armed robbery, obstruction, drug-related offences, and escape from police custody.

According to ICE, Ijaoba currently has a final removal order and remains in custody pending deportation to Nigeria.

Meanwhile, in a related development, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, recently arrested another Nigerian national, Oluwadamilola Ogooluwa Bamigboye, over allegations of evading arrest and abducting an immigration officer. Bamigboye and an alleged accomplice, Rekeya Frazier, have since been arraigned on charges bordering on assaulting a federal agent.

Authorities also disclosed that Bamigboye is facing additional charges for overstaying his student visa.
