Troops Foil Armed Robbery Attack on Abuja–Kaduna Highway
Troops of the 1 Division of the Nigerian Army, operating under Sector 1 of Operation Fansan Yamma, have successfully disrupted an armed robbery attempt along the Abuja–Kaduna highway, ensuring the safety of road users.
A military source disclosed that the incident occurred at about 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, following a distress alert received from the Nasarawan Doka area.
According to the source, troops swiftly responded to the call, confronted the assailants, and brought the situation under control.
During the operation, one suspect identified as Kabiru Zayyanu was arrested after sustaining a gunshot injury to the leg. He was subsequently taken to Doka General Hospital, where he received initial medical treatment.
The source said other members of the criminal group escaped into the surrounding area, prompting troops to launch a hot pursuit, though no further contact was made.
No casualties or cases of abduction were recorded during the incident. The arrested suspect is expected to be handed over to the appropriate security agencies upon the conclusion of preliminary investigations.
The military source added that the security situation along the highway remains calm, with troops maintaining a strong presence in the area. He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property and urged members of the public to continue reporting suspicious movements or activities to security authorities.
