Plateau Governor Mutfwang Officially joins APC

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has formally defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant shift in the state’s political landscape.

The governor was officially received into the APC on Friday in Jos, where the state chairman of the party, Mr. Rufus Bature, presented him with his membership card.

Addressing party leaders and supporters at the event, Mutfwang said his decision to join the APC was taken in the overall interest of Plateau State. He assured residents that his administration would remain inclusive despite the change in political affiliation, urging unity and collective purpose among the people.

Describing the move as a “journey of faith,” the governor expressed confidence that the alliance would yield tangible benefits for the state. He appealed for patience from skeptics, insisting that time would validate the decision, while encouraging those with concerns to remain calm and hopeful.

Mutfwang also expressed gratitude to the Peoples Democratic Party for providing him with the platform that shaped his political career, noting that his defection would further strengthen his resolve to deliver effective and qualitative governance.

The governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as his commitment and goodwill toward Plateau State and pledged his support for the president’s re-election bid in 2027.
