Raphael Onyedika scored twice as Nigeria’s rotated Super Eagles side secured a 3–1 victory over Uganda on Tuesday, closing out the group stage of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a flawless record.

The Club Brugge midfielder struck in quick succession in the 62nd and 67th minutes at Stade de Fes, putting the game out of Uganda’s reach, after Paul Onuachu had opened the scoring in the 28th minute.

Despite rotating several players following earlier wins against Tanzania and Tunisia, Nigeria dominated much of the match. Onuachu gave the Super Eagles an early lead with a composed finish from close range, but Uganda briefly revived their hopes with a goal of their own before Onyedika’s brace sealed the victory.

The win ensured Nigeria finished the group phase with nine points from three matches, showcasing a potent attack and solid defence, further establishing their status as strong contenders for the tournament title.

With confidence high, the Super Eagles now shift focus to the knockout rounds, aiming to capture their fourth AFCON crown.
