One Dead, Five Trapped as Rice Mill Collapses in Kebbi
A portion of NIA-AGRIC, a private rice mill in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, collapsed on Tuesday, resulting in the death of one worker and leaving five others trapped under the metal debris.
Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, Kebbi State Deputy Governor, visited the site to assess the situation and oversee ongoing rescue efforts. He led a high-level delegation to the facility on Tuesday evening to determine the extent of the damage and ensure an effective emergency response.
Rescue operations are being carried out by a joint team of the State Fire Service and emergency responders, working tirelessly to free the trapped individuals.
The cause of the collapse is yet to be determined, but the deputy governor assured that a thorough investigation would follow once the rescue operations are completed. Tafida also pledged the state government’s continued support to ensure all victims are safely recovered.
