Man Killed, Twins abducted in Edo community
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have reportedly killed a man identified as Ilabeshi Okhale and abducted his two children in Edo State.
The incident occurred at Kalabar Quarters, Afokpella, Etsako East Local Government Area, when the assailants forcibly entered his residence and inflicted machete injuries on him. After gaining access to the premises, the gunmen reportedly switched off his generator and attacked him as he came out to check, leaving him severely wounded.
The attackers then abducted his 16-year-old twin children, Emmanuel and Emmanuella, into the bush and demanded a ransom of N100 million.
The Edo State Police Command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, confirmed that the twins were rescued unharmed. She stated that the Police responded immediately upon receiving information, rushed the injured man to Ajie Hospital where he was pronounced dead, and later deposited his body at Santa Maria Morgue, Jattu, for autopsy.
Ikoedem added that a combined team of Police, Army, ESSC, hunters, and vigilantes conducted extensive bush searches, successfully rescued the twins, and reunited them with their family. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
