I didn’t apologise to Peter Obi over past comments – Nnamani
Former Enugu State Governor and serving senator, Chimaroke Nnamani, has dismissed reports claiming he apologised to former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, over comments he previously made regarding Obi’s presidential ambition.
In a statement issued by his media office, Nnamani described the report as false and deliberately misleading, saying the claim was based on a fabricated statement being circulated across media platforms and social networks.
Nnamani was a vocal critic of Obi’s presidential bid in the lead-up to the 2023 general election. However, reacting to the latest reports, the former governor insisted that he never offered any apology, either publicly or privately, for his past remarks.
“At no point, in any forum whether public or private did Senator Chimaroke Nnamani apologise or make the statements being attributed to him,” the statement said. “The claim is entirely false and appears to be a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and push a political narrative that does not exist.”
He maintained that he has always expressed his political opinions openly and has consistently stood by his views and previous statements. According to him, he does not engage in rewriting political history or apologising for exercising his right to free expression within a democratic setting.
The statement urged members of the public to completely disregard the circulating report, warning those behind it to desist from linking his name to what it described as propaganda and outright falsehoods.
Nnamani added that he remains focused on matters of national importance and would not allow himself to be distracted by what he termed manufactured controversies.
