Herder Arrested for Stabbing Brother to Death in Delta

The Delta State Police Command has arrested a herder accused of stabbing his brother to death in Ogwashi-Uku, Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, said the incident occurred in the early hours of January 8, 2025, at Poly Road near Adaigbo Filling Station.

According to the police, the victim, identified as 20-year-old Umaru Haman, was attacked while asleep. Preliminary investigations revealed that he was allegedly stabbed by his brother, Aliyu Haman, also 20, who is a herder and suspected drug user.

Edafe said the Divisional Police Officer of Ogwashi-Uku Division, CSP Israel Okoyomon, immediately deployed detectives to the scene after receiving the report at about 7:31 a.m. The suspect was arrested shortly after, and the weapon allegedly used in the attack was recovered.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Odua Mortuary in Ogwashi-Uku for autopsy, while the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
