Gunmen Kill Traditional Ruler in Ondo Community
Gunmen have shot dead a traditional ruler in Ondo State, Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamo of Agamo community in Akure North Local Government Area.
The state Police Command confirmed the incident on Thursday. The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed that the attack occurred around 7:10 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to him, the police division received a report at about 7:50 p.m. from a community leader, High Chief Ajewole Clement of New Town, Itaogbolu, indicating that about six armed men stormed the monarch’s residence, forcibly whisked him away from his compound and escaped.
He said the monarch was later discovered a few metres from his home with gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jimoh stated that upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer, alongside tactical teams, swiftly mobilised officers in collaboration with local security groups. Operatives of Amotekun, local hunters and members of the Atuluse security outfit were deployed to comb nearby bushes and surrounding areas in search of the assailants.
He added that security presence has been strengthened across the area to forestall any further breakdown of law and order, assuring residents that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the perpetrators.
The police urged members of the public with useful information to report to the nearest station or contact the command, stressing that those responsible for the killing would be brought to justice.
