The New Nigeria Peoples Party has been plunged into renewed internal crisis in Kano State following the removal of its state chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa, barely two weeks after he was reinstated through a party congress.

The decision was taken by executive members of the party in Gargari Ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, who said the action followed a properly convened executive meeting. A resolution endorsing Dungurawa’s removal was reportedly supported by 27 ward executives.

The meeting was presided over by the Ward Chairman, Shuaibu Hassan, with the Ward Secretary, Yahaya Saidu Dungurawa, also in attendance.

Ward leaders accused the former chairman of deepening internal divisions within the party and encouraging crises that weakened cohesion at the state level. They further alleged that he failed to pay mandatory party dues and made abusive remarks against Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

According to the executives, such conduct was detrimental to the party’s image and posed a serious threat to unity and internal stability. They maintained that the NNPP could not tolerate actions capable of undermining its progress in the state.

The ward leadership insisted that the removal was carried out in line with the provisions of the NNPP constitution, stressing that discipline and order must be upheld across all party structures. They emphasized that no individual is bigger than the party.

Copies of the resolution were said to have been forwarded to the party’s local government, state and national leaderships for documentation and further necessary action. The ward executives also disclosed that the decision had been communicated to the NNPP’s national leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf.

They explained that the move was intended as a warning to party officials against abuse of office and disregard for established rules, noting that leadership positions come with responsibility and restraint.

Despite the development, the ward leadership reaffirmed its loyalty to the NNPP’s national leadership, pledging continued support for Senator Kwankwaso and Governor Yusuf’s administration. They concluded by urging party members to remain calm, peaceful and united, stressing that the ultimate objective remains the growth and stability of the NNPP in Kano State.
