Four Russians Dead as Tourist Submarine Sinks in Red Sea
A tourist submarine carrying 44 passengers sank off the coast of Egypt during a trip to the Red Sea, leaving at least six people feared dead.
According to reports, four Russian citizens were among the deceased, while four others remain in critical condition. Nine additional passengers sustained injuries in the incident.
The submarine, identified as Sindbad, sank on Thursday while sailing near Hurghada. Rescue teams have so far managed to save 29 people.
NBC News, citing the Russian embassy in Cairo, confirmed the deaths of the Russian nationals. Meanwhile, the Red Sea Security Directorate reported that the incident occurred near the harbor of a well-known hotel, though its name has not been disclosed.
Emergency response teams, including 21 ambulances, were deployed to the scene to transport the injured to nearby hospitals.
