EFCC Arrests 15 More Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Kwara
Less than a week after apprehending 22 suspects, operatives of the Ilorin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Wednesday arrested 15 additional individuals for their alleged involvement in internet fraud.
The suspects were apprehended in the Tanke Oke-Odo area of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Last Friday, the EFCC had arrested 22 suspected internet fraudsters in different parts of Ilorin, including Tanke, Alao Farm Estate, Yidi Road, and Irewolede.
According to a statement by the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, the latest arrests were based on credible intelligence linking the suspects to fraudulent online activities.
Items recovered from the suspects included eight luxury cars, smartphones, and high-end laptops.
With these latest arrests, the number of suspected internet fraudsters detained by the EFCC in Ilorin within a week has risen to 37.
The commission confirmed that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
