Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) Frank Mba has retired from the Nigeria Police Force following the appointment of Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) Olatunji Disu as the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP), in line with established police hierarchy protocols.

Under longstanding administrative conventions within the Force, a serving DIG is required to step down when a more junior officer is appointed as IGP. The measure is designed to preserve command structure, operational cohesion, and institutional stability.

The President appoints the IGP based on the recommendation of the Nigeria Police Council. In this instance, Mba was not nominated for the top position, effectively bringing his tenure in active service to an end.

Mba is widely regarded as having had a distinguished career in the Nigeria Police Force, serving in various strategic capacities and earning recognition for his contributions to policing and public communication.
