Chelsea Football Club have officially parted ways with head coach Enzo Maresca, bringing his tenure to an end less than two years after his appointment.

The club confirmed the decision in a statement released on Thursday, noting that the separation was mutually agreed in what was described as the best interest of the team as the season reaches a critical stage.

“Chelsea Football Club and Head Coach Enzo Maresca have parted company,” the statement said. “During his time at the club, Enzo led the team to success in the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Those achievements remain an important part of the club’s recent history, and we thank him for his contributions.”

The statement added that with major objectives still at stake across four competitions, including qualification for the UEFA Champions League, both parties agreed that a change in leadership would give the team the best opportunity to regain momentum for the remainder of the season.

Chelsea wished Maresca success in his future endeavours.

Maresca was appointed Chelsea manager following his Championship title-winning campaign with Leicester City in 2024. The club is expected to announce a replacement ahead of Sunday’s Premier League fixture against Manchester City.
