Bauchi Assembly Pass N877 Billion 2026 Budget into Law
The Bauchi State House of Assembly has formally passed the 2026 Appropriation Bill, amounting to N877,052,907,900, into law.
The bill was approved following the presentation of the House Committee on Appropriation report, chaired by Wanzam Mohammed, during Tuesday’s plenary session presided over by Speaker Abubakar Sulaiman.
Mohammed revealed that N308.7 billion (35.2%) of the budget is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, while N568.3 billion is allocated for capital projects. He emphasized that the budget is designed to drive infrastructure development, improve social services, and stimulate economic growth throughout the state.
The committee also lauded the state government for establishing a Fiscal Services Commission, building capacity around the new budget framework, and introducing sanctions against extra-budgetary spending.
Other recommendations included the timely release of funds to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), and the strengthening of audit and procurement processes to ensure transparency and accountability in budget implementation.
