Gombe-Led ADC Rejects Peter Obi’s Membership Registration

The African Democratic Congress (ADC), under the leadership of Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe, has officially denied that Peter Obi is a registered member of the party, following claims that he registered at the party’s zonal office in Enugu.

In a statement issued from Gombe, the party chairman insisted that such reports are misleading and contradict the constitutionally mandated membership procedures of the ADC. He emphasized that the party’s registration process is strictly regulated and governed by principles of discipline and constitutional compliance.

According to the statement, legitimate membership registration is only conducted at the ward level, which serves as the recognized entry point for new members.

“It has come to our attention that Mr. Peter Obi was reportedly registered at a zonal office in Enugu. We categorically state that this does not align with the constitutionally approved procedures for joining the African Democratic Congress,” Gombe said.

The statement further clarified that proper registration involves completing official party forms at the ward level and receiving a validated membership card upon successful documentation. Registrations carried out at zonal or national offices are deemed invalid under the party’s constitution.

“The ADC is a party built on order and discipline. Membership must begin at the ward level in the state of origin or residence of the prospective member. Any registration outside this framework is unconstitutional and will not be recognized,” Gombe added.

The national leadership confirmed that it has disowned the reported Enugu registration and is investigating the matter. While reiterating its openness to Nigerians wishing to join the party, the ADC urged the public to disregard claims suggesting alternative registration channels.

“The ADC remains committed to creating a credible and inclusive political platform for Nigerians, but all processes must adhere strictly to our internal regulations and legal framework,” the statement concluded.
