Riley Moore Raise Alarm Over Alleged ISIS Threats Against Christians in Nigeria
A United States Congressman, Riley Moore, has expressed concern over reported threats against Christian communities in Nigeria, citing statements allegedly linked to an Islamic State affiliated group.
Moore raised the alarm in a post on his verified X account on Thursday night, where he described the situation as clear religious persecution and insisted that ongoing debates over the motives behind attacks on Christians in Nigeria should be put to rest.
According to the lawmaker, claims that the violence is driven by issues such as land disputes or climate change no longer hold. He argued that recent developments point directly to targeted attacks based on religious identity.
“If there were any remaining doubts that Christians in Nigeria are being targeted for their faith in Jesus Christ, this should end that debate,” Moore wrote. “This is not about land use or climate change. It is persecution of our brothers and sisters because of their faith.”
Moore was reacting to reports circulating on X earlier in the day, alleging that the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) released an image showing a Christian village in Adamawa State engulfed in flames.
