Zimbabwe holds first training in Uyo Ahead of World Cup Qualifier Against Super Eagles

The Warriors of Zimbabwe will hold their first training session in Uyo on Sunday morning at the practice pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium. The team, led by head coach Michael Nees, arrived in the Akwa Ibom State capital on Saturday ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
As part of their preparations, the Zimbabwean squad will have their first feel of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, the official match venue, on Monday. The highly anticipated fixture is set to take place on Tuesday as both teams battle for crucial points in the qualifiers.
The Warriors head into the encounter following a 2-2 draw against Benin Republic at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Thursday. Despite their efforts, Zimbabwe currently sits at the bottom of Group C with three points from five matches, making the clash against Nigeria a must-win to revive their qualification hopes.
