AFCON 2025: Oliseh highlights Key Challenge Threatening Nigeria’s Title Bid
Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has highlighted the potential obstacles that could prevent Nigeria from clinching the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title in Morocco.
Speaking on a recent episode of Global Football Insights, Oliseh emphasized the importance of defensive solidity for the national team. “What could stop Nigeria from winning the AFCON is if we don’t get our defensive house in order, to make sure that when we score, we don’t concede,” he stated.
The ex-Juventus midfielder also praised Nigeria’s attacking strength, noting that the team possesses one of the most potent striking forces in the tournament.
Nigeria last lifted the AFCON trophy in 2013 under the late coach Stephen Keshi, defeating Burkina Faso 1–0 in the final in South Africa, courtesy of Sunday Mba’s decisive goal.
