The All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended the tenure of its caretaker committee in Benue State for another six months. This decision came after the committee’s initial term expired in February.

On Friday, committee members received their reappointment letters at the APC state secretariat in Makurdi. The letters, signed by the party’s national secretary, Senator Surajudeen Ajibola, confirmed the committee’s continued role in managing party affairs in the state.

The caretaker committee chairman, Dr. Benjamin Omale, thanked the APC’s national leadership for its support in stabilizing the party in Benue. He recalled that due to internal disputes within the state chapter, the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) had to step in. This led to the appointment of the seven-member caretaker committee, which was nominated by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Dr. Omale also criticized former state chairman Austin Agada, accusing him of trying to position himself as the party leader despite the committee’s formation. He warned Agada against any attempts to reclaim the chairmanship, stating that such actions would have consequences.

He further highlighted the achievements of the APC-led government under Governor Alia, including infrastructure development and the regular payment of salaries and pensions. He warned that any attempts to disrupt the government’s progress would not be tolerated.

The reappointment ceremony took place a week after the committee’s initial tenure expired. It was attended by key party stakeholders, including all 23 local government party chairmen and the state’s commissioner for power and transport.
