Army Announce Commencement Date For 2026 Free DSSC Application – How to Apply

The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 29/2026 with the process set to begin on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

According to Nigerian Army, the application window will remain open until February 4, 2026 and interested candidates are advised to apply within the stipulated period.

In a statement issued by the Nigerian Army, eligible Nigerians are invited to apply for commission as Direct Short Service officers. The programme is open to both civilians and serving military personnel.

The DSSC recruitment covers several corps within the Nigerian Army, including the Nigerian Army Engineers, Nigerian Army Signals, Nigerian Army Medical Corps, Nigerian Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineers and the Nigerian Army Education Corps.

The Army emphasized that the application process is completely free and must be completed online between January 7 and February 4, 2026. Applicants seeking further information are advised to visit the official recruitment portal or contact the provided helplines during official hours.

The announcement was signed by the Military Secretary (Army), Department of Military Secretary, Mambilla Barracks, Asokoro, Abuja.

How to Apply

Prospective applicants are required to visit the Nigerian Army recruitment portal at recruitment.army.mil.ng and select the DSSC option.

Candidates should carefully review the qualification requirements for the ongoing DSSC courses before proceeding.

Applicants are then expected to click on the “Apply Now” button corresponding to their qualifications and preferred corps.

At the next stage, candidates must indicate whether they are currently serving or have previously served in the Armed Forces of Nigeria and proceed accordingly.

New users will be required to create an account by signing up with a valid email address, after which they can log in to complete the application form.

Applicants must ensure that all required documents are uploaded, including a passport photograph, educational certificates, evidence of professional body membership (where applicable), certificate of state of origin, birth certificate or age declaration and valid NIN or BVN.
