Bandits Attack Katsina Communities, Kill, Abduct Residents
Several communities in Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State were attacked by bandits on Monday night, resulting in multiple deaths, injuries and abductions, raising fresh security concerns in the region.
Security analyst and crisis journalist Bakatsine reported the incidents on his X handle, noting that the attacks targeted Unguwar Alhaji Barau, Gidan Dan Mai-gizo, and Gidan Hazo communities in Na’alma Ward. He wrote, “SAD NEWS: Last night, bandits stormed Unguwar Alh. Barau, Gidan Dan Mai-gizo, and Gidan Hazo communities in Na’alma Ward, Malumfashi LGA. Several people were killed, injured, and others abducted during the attacks.”
The attack has prompted renewed questions about the recent peace agreement reportedly brokered between Malumfashi LGA leaders and armed bandits. Residents expressed frustration over the repeated pattern of bandits entering negotiations only to later breach them with violent attacks.
“This recurring cycle of attacks despite peace deals has heightened fear and uncertainty among communities. Many are now questioning whether such agreements can genuinely guarantee safety,” a local source said.
Affected communities are calling on the Katsina State Government and security agencies to take decisive action to restore order, protect residents, and implement lasting measures that ensure security and prevent future attacks.
