Rivers Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu Officially Joins APC
Rivers State Deputy Governor, Ngozi Odu, has officially left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Odu completed her registration at her ward in Akabuka town, Ward 8, Unit 11, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area. Following her enrolment, she was observed singing “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand,” a campaign anthem closely associated with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, signaling her full alignment with the ruling party.
Her move comes shortly after Governor Siminalayi Fubara also defected from the PDP to the APC, following a private meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Fubara’s registration into the APC was conducted by Rivers State APC Chairman, Tony Okocha, under instructions from the party’s national secretariat.
APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, has since recognized Governor Fubara as the party’s leader in Rivers State, strengthening the APC’s position in the oil-rich region.
Deputy Governor Odu’s defection underscores the ongoing political realignment in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 general elections, highlighting the ruling party’s increasing influence in the state.
