Bandits Attack Zamfara Road, Burn Vehicles, Kidnap Passengers
Terrorists, locally referred to as bandits, on Friday attacked travellers along the Danjibga–Kuncin Kalgo road in Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State, burning two vehicles and abducting all passengers on board.
According to reports gathered by Talk Nigeria the assailants blocked the road before launching the assault. After seizing the occupants, the bandits set the vehicles ablaze. As of Saturday, the fate of the kidnapped passengers remained unknown.
The incident was confirmed by the security alert platform Bakatsine, which noted that the attack underscores the ongoing insecurity on major roads across Zamfara State.
This attack comes shortly after Nigerian security forces had cleared the Gusau–Magami–Dansadau Road following a deadly Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion on December 27 that claimed at least eight lives, destroyed property, and caused widespread panic among residents and travellers.
Acting on instructions from Zamfara State Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba, specialized Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams were deployed to sweep the highway for potential explosives. The operation involved Police and Military EOD units alongside the Joint Task Force under Operation Fansa-Yamma, with armed security personnel providing cover throughout the exercise.
Despite these efforts, the recent attack highlights the continuing threat to travellers on strategic routes within the state.
