Pastor Chris Okafor Steps Down Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Pastor Chris Okafor, the senior pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, has stepped down from his pastoral duties following allegations of sexual misconduct.

The decision comes after he publicly apologized to actress Doris Ogala during a church service, admitting to past mistakes and asking for forgiveness. This comes shortly after his wedding to a woman named Pearl, despite Ogala’s accusations of betrayal and emotional manipulation.

While some members of the church dismissed the claims as attempts to extort the pastor, pressure from Christian leaders reportedly influenced his decision to temporarily step aside. A senior official of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) said Okafor’s one-month leave is intended for “spiritual reflection and discipline,” emphasizing that criminal investigations fall under government authority, not the PFN.

In his New Year sermon, Okafor described the break as a time for personal retreat and spiritual renewal with his wife, with plans to return in February. The allegations against him include long-term sexual relationships, manipulation, and emotional and financial abuse, with multiple women, including former spouses and church members, coming forward. Despite widespread social media attention, the Lagos State Police have confirmed that no official complaints have been filed against him.
