Maduro is “Captured and Flown out”, US President Trump clams
US President Donald Trump on Saturday claimed that American forces had captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro following a “large-scale strike” in the South American nation.
Speaking on Truth Social, Trump said, “The United States of America has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country.”
Trump also indicated that he would hold a news conference at 11:00 a.m. local time (1600 GMT) at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida to provide further details.
The announcement comes amid escalating tensions between Washington and Caracas and raises concerns over potential military escalation in the region.
Further updates are expected following Trump’s press briefing.
