Reconcile With Wike, Borno Elders Urge Makinde, Mohammed
Stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Borno State have urged Governors Bala Mohammed of Bauchi and Seyi Makinde of Oyo to set aside differences, restore party unity, and reaffirm their allegiance to FCT Minister and PDP National Leader, Nyesom Wike.
Grema Kyari, chairman of the Borno PDP stakeholders and member of the National Working Caretaker Committee, made the appeal during a press briefing in Maiduguri, praising Wike for his unwavering commitment to discipline and institutional integrity within the party.
The group also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for nullifying the Ibadan convention that elected Kabiru Turaki as PDP National Chairman, describing the decision as a reinforcement of internal democracy. They further applauded the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led National Working Caretaker Committee for dissolving the Borno State PDP Executive Committee and instituting a Working Caretaker Committee, an action hailed as a timely and lawful intervention that has restored hope to party members across the state.
Kyari emphasized Wike’s steadfastness in upholding constitutionalism and institutional discipline despite sustained pressures from Governors Bala Mohammed and Seyi Makinde, backed by Kabiru Turaki, which have contributed to the party’s internal crisis.
“In light of these realities, we call on Kabiru Turaki, Governor Bala Mohammed, and Governor Seyi Makinde to put aside differences, embrace unity, and realign with our National Leader, Chief Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, whose efforts in strengthening and repositioning the PDP are widely recognized,” the stakeholders declared.
