Arabi, Barambu appointed GOSERC, GIDTEC commission Chair
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has approved the establishment of the Gombe State Electricity Regulatory Commission (GOSERC) and the Gombe State Information Technology and Digital Economy Commission (GIDTEC) to enhance regulation, promote innovation, and drive economic transformation in the state.
Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, Secretary to the State Government, announced that the governor assented to the bills establishing the two commissions, providing them full legal authority to operate.
Following the approvals, Dr. Usman Abba Arabi has been appointed as Chairman of GOSERC, while Al-Amin Umar Barambu, PhD, has been named Chairman of GIDTEC. Both appointees bring extensive expertise and experience to effectively implement the mandates of their respective commissions.
The creation of GOSERC aligns with Governor Yahaya’s power sector reform agenda, leveraging provisions of the Electricity Act to strengthen regulation, improve service delivery, attract investment, and expand access to reliable electricity across the state.
Similarly, GIDTEC reflects the governor’s commitment to positioning Gombe State as a technology-driven and digitally competitive economy, with focus on ICT development, digital innovation, e-governance, skills acquisition, and youth employment.
Governor Yahaya tasked the new chairmen to apply their professionalism, integrity, and track record of service to build strong, responsive, and results-oriented institutions that will accelerate development and deliver tangible benefits to the people of Gombe State.
Both appointments take effect from January 2, 2026.
