The Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has implemented minor changes in his cabinet, redeploying Barr. Christopher Green, the Commissioner of Sports Development, to the Ministry of Justice.

This decision follows the political crisis in the state, which led Governor Fubara to dissolve the cabinets of members affected by the Supreme Court ruling. The move specifically impacted the then Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Rivers State.

With the redeployment, Barr. Green assumes the role of Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, while continuing to oversee the activities of the Ministry of Sports until a substantive commissioner is appointed to lead the ministry.

A statement by Dr. Honour Sirawoo, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Communications, confirmed that the redeployment takes immediate effect. The decision, approved at the final State Executive Council meeting of 2025, reflects the governor’s commitment to strengthening governance, ensuring service continuity, and enhancing the performance of key ministries within Rivers State.
