Let’s work for a Joint Ticket, Atiku’s Aide Reaches Out to Obidients following Obi’s ADC defection
A senior aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Demola Olarenwaju, has described Peter Obi’s defection to the African Democratic Congress, ADC, as a historic political development, urging supporters of both leaders to unite behind a joint ticket.
Olarenwaju, who serves as Atiku’s Senior Political Assistant, made the appeal in a post on X, arguing that Nigeria’s future remains uncertain under the administration of President Bola Tinubu. He called on followers of Atiku and Obi to put aside differences and work collectively toward a common political objective.
Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, had announced his resignation from the Labour Party and subsequent defection to the ADC while speaking in Enugu State.
Reacting to the announcement, Olarenwaju described Obi’s move as a long-anticipated shift, noting that it represents a significant turning point in the evolving opposition landscape. He stressed that the moment calls for cooperation rather than rivalry, emphasizing that unity among their supporters is essential in shaping the country’s political future.
According to him, the priority should be safeguarding Nigeria’s future, which he said is not secure under the current federal leadership, adding that collaboration between Obidients and Atiku’s supporters is now imperative.
