Threats to My Life increasing by the Day, IPOB Lawyer Ejiofor cries out
Counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has raised alarm over what he described as escalating threats to his life and the safety of his family.
In a petition dated December 29, 2025, Ejiofor said he was compelled to formally alert the public and the international community to what he termed a deliberate and sustained campaign of intimidation against him. The human rights lawyer explained that the situation had become increasingly dangerous, making public disclosure unavoidable.
Ejiofor, a native of Oraifite in Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State, noted that his earlier decision to speak out was prompted by a steady rise in threats directed at him and his family. He said the initial alarm generated widespread concern, drawing calls, messages and expressions of solidarity from individuals across different segments of society.
However, he lamented that despite the public reaction, the threats have not subsided. Instead, he said they have intensified, forcing him to document and present what he described as a factual and historical account of the situation to the global audience.
Recalling his earlier warning, Ejiofor stated that credible threats to his life and family safety were brought to public attention, but regrettably, the danger has continued to grow. He added that he is currently residing at his ancestral home in Oraifite with his family for the Christmas and New Year celebrations, a development that further heightens his concerns.
The lawyer’s petition underscores growing anxiety over personal safety amid ongoing legal and political tensions surrounding his work.
