Court Orders Former AGF Malami Remanded in Kuje Prison

Justice Emeka Nwite of the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, be remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre until January 2, 2026.

Malami is facing money laundering charges brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). On Tuesday, his lead counsel, Joseph Daudu, SAN, requested oral bail, but Justice Nwite denied the application, ruling that granting it would constitute an ambush against the EFCC, which has filed the charges.

The court noted that since a written bail application has already been filed and properly served on the EFCC, the interest of justice requires allowing the anti-graft agency to respond in accordance with legal procedures.

Further details will be brought to you soon…
