The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is set to arraign former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, at the Federal High Court in Abuja today, December 30, 2025.

Malami, who served as Justice Minister for eight years under former President Muhammadu Buhari, will face 16-count charges, including allegations of money laundering and other financial crimes. His plea will be taken by Justice Emeka Nwite.

EFCC operatives have taken control of security at the court premises to prevent any disruptions to the proceedings. Malami has been in EFCC custody for nearly a month as part of ongoing investigations into alleged corruption and mismanagement of government funds during his tenure as Attorney-General and Minister of Justice.
