Get ready to resume Senate duties, PDP Charge Natasha
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, to prepare to resume her legislative duties at the Senate.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the party criticised the Clerk of the National Assembly for attempting to prevent Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan from returning to her seat after serving a six-month suspension imposed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
The PDP described the move as a deliberate effort by the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Senate leadership to silence the people of Kogi Central and deny them proper representation at the National Assembly.
“The PDP calls on the international community, democracy institutions, rights advocacy groups, and other democracy development partners to rise in condemnation of this renewed attack on Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan,” the statement read.
The party further demanded that Senate leadership allow the lawmaker to resume her responsibilities without obstruction, stressing that she was duly elected by her constituents and must not be denied her mandate.
