Another Petrol Tanker Overturns in Oyo

Another petrol tanker has overturned in Oyo State, spilling 40,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) along the Ogbomoso-Ilorin Express Road at Galilee, Orile Igbon in the early hours of Monday, March 31, 2025.
Confirming the incident, General Manager of the Oyo State Fire Service, Mr. Yemi Akinyinka, stated that the Ogbomoso Fire Station received a distress call at 6:36 a.m. from the Divisional Traffic Officer (DTO) of Orile Igbon.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found a DAF trailer tanker (Reg No: SUL 698 XP Niger) overturned in a ditch, with fuel spilling rapidly. Firefighters immediately deployed foam compounds to neutralize the flammability and prevent an outbreak of fire.
Security operatives from the Nigeria Police, Orile Igbon Division, were also present to maintain order and ensure safety.
This incident comes just days after another fuel tanker accident occurred in the state.
