Fire Guts Guangdong Free Trade Zone, Nearby Homes affected

A large fire broke out on Sunday at the Ogun State Guangdong Free Trade Zone in Igbesa, causing damage within the industrial area and affecting nearby residential buildings.

As of the time of reporting, authorities had yet to issue an official statement on the cause of the incident. However, residents in the area said the blaze was sparked by a gas explosion at a foam manufacturing company located within the industrial park.

According to eyewitness accounts, the fire spread rapidly before emergency responders could contain it, engulfing parts of the facility and extending to surrounding homes. Further details on casualties and the extent of damage were still unavailable at press time.
