Otunba Emmanuel Ajisafe Fayose, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has declared his intention to contest the 2026 Ekiti gubernatorial election, vowing to unseat Governor Biodun Oyebanji. He criticized the current administration, stating that it has failed to deliver on the fundamental needs of the people.

Speaking at the Ansar-u-Deen Central Mosque in Ado Ekiti on Friday, Fayose emphasized his commitment to improving the welfare of residents. In solidarity with the Muslim community during Ramadan, he distributed food items and cash gifts, promising to remain connected with the people.

He accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) government of failing to address critical issues such as unemployment, lack of infrastructure, and economic hardship. He noted that many young people have resorted to commercial motorcycle riding due to a lack of opportunities, while basic necessities remain out of reach for many families.

Fayose pledged to introduce policies that would create employment, establish industries, and promote mechanized farming. He assured Ekiti residents that his administration would focus on providing social amenities, security, and economic empowerment programs aimed at improving their quality of life.

Calling on the people to support his ambition, he expressed empathy for the hardships they are facing and urged them to remain hopeful. He reiterated his determination to bring transformative leadership that prioritizes the interests of the masses.

The Chief Imam of the mosque appreciated Fayose’s visit, offered prayers for his aspirations, and acknowledged that Muslims have been given a more significant role in Governor Oyebanji’s administration compared to previous governments.
