Injured Soldier cries out for Help as he battles Spinal Cord injury
A Nigerian soldier, David Itodo, who has been battling a spinal cord injury for nearly five years, has called on Nigerians for assistance.
Itodo has been receiving treatment at the 44 Reference Hospital in Kaduna since December 2020, following an accident he suffered while on duty in Abia State in September 2020.
Unlike many of his peers in their 30s who are building families and pursuing careers, Itodo has been confined to one spot, struggling with mobility and severe medical challenges.
A source, who pleaded anonymity, revealed to LEADERSHIP that Itodo’s condition requires urgent medical interventions.
“He needs an MRI scan, a wheelchair, and financial support to improve his condition,” the source stated.
The source further disclosed that Itodo’s salary is insufficient to cover his medical expenses, making external support crucial for his survival.
“He believes that with the help of well-meaning Nigerians, the government, NGOs, and medical stakeholders, he can still live the life he once dreamed of.”
Currently, his body remains fixated, with his nerves and sensory organs failing to respond properly to stimuli.
Itodo’s appeal underscores the urgent need for financial assistance to access proper medical care and regain some level of normalcy in his life.
