Super Eagles forward Akor Adams has temporarily left Nigeria’s camp following the team’s emphatic 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the round of 16 at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

The development was confirmed in a brief update posted on the Super Eagles’ official X account, which stated that the striker was granted permission to attend to a family emergency.

According to the statement, Adams was allowed to leave camp to be with his mother, who was hospitalised on Monday. The team expressed support for the player and wished his mother a speedy recovery.

Despite receiving the distressing news ahead of the match, Adams featured in the encounter and capped Nigeria’s dominant performance by scoring the fourth goal.

It is yet to be confirmed whether the Sevilla striker will return in time for the Super Eagles’ quarter-final fixture scheduled for Saturday, where Nigeria will face either DR Congo or Algeria.
