Three Suspects remanded in Prison for Vandalising, disrupting National Grid
The Nigerian government has arrested and remanded three individuals suspected of vandalizing power line installations in Agbogwugu, Enugu State, an act that disrupted the national grid.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) spokesperson, Ndidi Mbah, confirmed the development in a statement on Thursday.
According to Mbah, the arrests were made on Sunday, March 24, 2025, following a coordinated effort between community members and law enforcement agencies. The suspects were initially detained at Agbogwugu Police Station in Ozalla before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and later remanded in prison after their first court appearance.
TCN assured that it is collaborating with the Nigeria Police Force to ensure the suspects are prosecuted.
“This incident underscores the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with security agencies to combat vandalism,” the statement read.
The agency urged communities to remain alert and report suspicious activities to security operatives or the nearest TCN office, emphasizing that vandalism undermines efforts to maintain a stable and efficient power transmission grid.
