Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has confirmed that he and his political network possess the organizational strength to deliver any candidate of their choice in the fourth coming 2027 elections, insisting he and his allies won’t support the sitting governor’s second term ambition.

Wike emphasized that it was his political base that played a decisive role in ensuring President Bola Tinubu’s victory in Rivers State during the 2023 general election. Speaking on Monday during engagements with supporters and allies in Etche and Omuma Local Government Areas, the minister highlighted that beyond the presidential contest, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured victories in all national and state assembly elections, as well as the governorship election, demonstrating the potency of his mobilization efforts.

Addressing Rivers State politics specifically, Wike urged his supporters in Omuma LGA to “listen to Kelechi,” signaling his alignment with the local political leadership. Supporting this stance, Kelechi Nwogu, member of the House of Representatives for Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency, declared that Governor Siminalayi Fubara would not receive support from Omuma if he seeks a second term. Nwogu warned against elevating ungrateful individuals, emphasizing loyalty to political mentorship and questioning the motives of recent defectors to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He assured both Wike and President Tinubu of Omuma’s steadfast backing, noting that electoral support would remain with proven leadership.

Wike also engaged supporters in Etche LGA, reiterating the political strength of his network and signalling that active campaigning and political maneuvering would officially commence in January 2026.
