The 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has been recognized as the ‘Most Peaceful Emir’ in Nigeria by the Nigerian Citizens Peace Ambassadors. The award was formally presented by the organization’s chairman, Professor Yahaya Imam, during an event at the Emir’s Nasarawa Mini Palace in Kano.

Professor Imam commended the Emir for his commitment to peace, particularly his decision to suspend the planned Sallah Durbar in the interest of stability in the state.

“His Highness has always been an advocate for peace. Since the beginning of the Emirate tussle, he has remained steadfast in promoting harmony despite efforts by certain individuals to instigate unrest,” Imam stated.

He added, “We are here to honor you and present this award on behalf of the Nigerian Citizens Peace Ambassadors. Suspending the Durbar is a clear testament to your commitment to peace, a trait that was also deeply embodied by your late father.”

In his response, Emir Bayero expressed gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed his dedication to maintaining peace in Kano State.

“We are a peace-loving people, and this is a value passed down from our forefathers. Kano is our home, and we will uphold the rule of law, trusting that whatever Allah has destined for us will be in the best interest of our state,” Bayero said.

He urged Kano residents to remain calm and avoid actions that could disrupt the peace, emphasizing the need for unity and collective progress.
