Shehu Sani Declares Interest in Kaduna Central Senatorial Seat Ahead of 2027

Former Senator Shehu Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, has declared his intention to run for re-election in the 2027 general elections.
Sani made the announcement on Sunday while delivering his Eid-el-Fitr message at his residence in Kaduna.
“Any politician contesting an election depends on political equations that determine the position they will seek. If the conditions are right and the equations favorable, I will offer myself to contest for the Kaduna Central senatorial seat,” he stated.
He further emphasized that his ambition remains secondary to the re-election of Governor Uba Sani, reaffirming his commitment to ensuring the governor secures a second term in office.
“For now, our priority is to see that Governor Uba Sani is re-elected. We will put in all our might and strength. We know there will be challenges and opposition, but we are fully prepared to face them,” he added.
Sani also urged Muslims to use the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations to pray for peace and unity in Nigeria. He condemned the recent killing of hunters in Edo State and called on security agencies to track down those responsible.
“If citizens cannot move freely from one part of the country to another, then we are not a nation. If people take the law into their own hands without consequences, then it means there is no functioning government or authority,” he stated.
He urged Nigerians who desire a better country to work towards peace and unity, stressing that democracy must be preserved despite the challenges being faced. He also called on the government to uphold fundamental rights, particularly the right to life.
