Immigration Officer Was Not Shot on Orders of Chinese Expatriate – FG

The Federal Government has dismissed claims that a Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) officer was shot on the orders of a Chinese expatriate at a company in Niger State.
In a statement on Friday, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Minister of Interior, Babatunde Alao, clarified that the officer was struck by a stray bullet and was not deliberately targeted by the company or its employees.
The government has launched a full-scale investigation into the incident in collaboration with other security agencies to determine the exact circumstances of the shooting. Authorities have assured that anyone found responsible will face legal action.
“The Minister reaffirms his strong commitment to ensuring the safety, dignity, and professional integrity of all law enforcement officers,” the statement read.
The government also reiterated its support for law-abiding businesses and its dedication to fostering sustainable partnerships with foreign nationals for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
