Businesswoman Aisha Achimugu Wanted by EFCC Over Alleged Money Laundering

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Nigerian businesswoman Aisha Achimugu wanted over allegations of criminal conspiracy and money laundering.
In a public notice issued on Friday, the anti-graft agency urged the public to provide information on Achimugu’s whereabouts. She is from Ofu Local Government Area of Kogi State and was last known to reside at 6C, Rudolf Close, Maitama, Abuja.
“The public is hereby notified that AISHA SULAIMAN ACHIMUGU, whose photograph appears above, is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of Criminal Conspiracy and Money Laundering,” the EFCC stated.
The commission advised anyone with relevant information to contact its offices nationwide, call 08093322644, email info@efcc.gov.ng, or report to the nearest police station or security agency.
Reports have linked Achimugu to alleged campaign funds reportedly provided by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 presidential election. However, Atiku’s spokesperson, Paul Ibe, dismissed the claims, stating that there was no financial transaction between Atiku and the Lagos governor.
“The reports suggesting that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, through Ms. Aisha Achimugu, provided funds to Atiku Abubakar are false,” Ibe said in a statement. “Atiku has never met or had any dealings with Governor Sanwo-Olu.”
Aisha Achimugu is the Managing Director and CEO of Felak Concept Group, a company specializing in civil, structural, and transportation engineering, with interests in consultancy, transaction advisory, maritime operations, and environmental waste management. She was also recognized as the first female consultant and transaction advisor for the development of a Deep Sea Port in South-South Nigeria.
Born on January 22, 1974, Achimugu attended the Federal Government Girls Science School, Kuje, before earning a B.Sc. in Accountancy from the University of Jos in 1998. She later received an Honorary Doctorate Degree from the Commonwealth University, Belize.
She was married to the late Sulaiman Achimugu, former Managing Director of the Pipelines and Products Marketing Company (PPMC), who passed away in 2020. Achimugu, a mother of three, made headlines last year when she celebrated her 50th birthday in Grenada, an event attended by high-profile personalities, including Governor Sanwo-Olu.
