Women Affairs Minister, 64 Others Honoured by Arise News

The Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has been recognized by the Arise News Channel’s Board of Editors for her outstanding leadership in advocating for women, children, and vulnerable groups.

At the prestigious event, held at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre on Monday, Sulaiman-Ibrahim was represented by philanthropist and Alafia Foundation founder, Mrs. Olasumbo Odunsi. The ceremony brought together prominent Nigerian women excelling in government, politics, business, finance, and the creative economy.

Sulaiman-Ibrahim was praised for her commitment to gender equality and humanitarian governance, with the board highlighting her data-driven and people-focused approach, which aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Among the 64 other distinguished awardees were First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her advocacy on women’s empowerment, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala for her global economic leadership, and Dr. Amina Mohammed, United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, for her role in sustainable development. Others honored included Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, Hadiza Bala Usman, Senator Ireti Kingibe, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Arts and Culture Hannatu Musawa, Minister of State for Education Professor Suwaiba Said Ahmad, and Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

In her acceptance message, the Women Affairs Minister expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and thanked Arise News for recognizing the contributions of women in leadership.

“It is truly a privilege to be recognized among the 65 Women Making Impacts in Politics and Governance. This honour reminds us of the work ahead in advancing women and children’s rights, protection, empowerment, and leadership. Congratulations to all awardees—the Nigerian woman is a force to reckon with,” she stated.
