Residents Flee as Herdsmen Launch Fresh Attack on Benue Community

Residents of Olena in Asa community, Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, have abandoned their homes following a sustained four-day attack by suspected herdsmen.
Reports indicate that several people have been killed and abducted, while others managed to escape under dire circumstances.
A resident, who spoke anonymously, confirmed that the attacks had been ongoing, with no intervention from security forces.
“I barely managed to escape with my family. The entire community has been overrun. We have cried for help, but no security agents have come to our rescue,” he lamented.
Video footage obtained by reporters shows frightened villagers fleeing their homes late Monday night as the attacks persisted.
The situation remains tense, with displaced residents seeking refuge in nearby communities like Upu.
