Governor Nwifuru Suspends Council Chairman, Orders Arrest of Six Commissioners

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, has suspended the Chairman of Afikpo Local Government Area, Mr. Timothy Nwach, and ordered the arrest of six commissioners over an alleged breach of contract agreement.
The affected commissioners include:
- Professor Omari Omaka (Tertiary Education)
- Victor Chukwu (Environment)
- Ifeanyi Ogbuewu (Culture and Tourism)
- Uchenna Igwe (Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters)
- Moses Ekuma (Health)
- Felix Igboke (Project Monitoring)
Reports indicate that the suspended officials and certain contractors are accused of sabotaging the governor’s plans to commission a 140-unit housing project for the Izzo and Amaze communities as part of his second-anniversary celebrations.
There are also claims that some of the implicated commissioners and contractors have fled to evade arrest.
