I’ll remove you if you can’t maintain peace – Gov Adeleke Warns Osun Monarchs

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has warned that traditional rulers in conflict-prone areas risk removal if violence reoccurs in their domains.
Adeleke specifically cautioned the monarchs of Ifon, Erin-Osun, and Ilobu, urging them to sustain the peace efforts following recent communal clashes.
The governor’s warning, issued on Monday through his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, followed reports of renewed plans for attacks in the affected communities.
“In the midst of Sallah celebrations, I received intelligence about plans to reignite violence in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin-Osun. Security agencies are on high alert, and those involved in the past crisis are under investigation. The peace agreements signed are binding, and violators will face legal consequences,” the statement read.
Adeleke emphasized that while the curfew was relaxed on humanitarian grounds, any misuse of this gesture for violence will lead to its full reinstatement.
“I will not hesitate to remove any monarch whose domain experiences another outbreak of violence. Traditional rulers must take responsibility and ensure peace,” he warned.
The Osun State Government had initially imposed a 24-hour curfew in the three communities following deadly clashes that resulted in loss of lives and destruction of property worth millions of naira.
